INDIAN QUEENS BUBBLEWRAP

Having floated round the East London live scene for basically their whole lives, Hackney Wick's Indian Queens have just shared some exciting news. Confirming the release of their debut album God Is A Woman next month, 'Bubblewrap' is its bold lead track. Pairing niggling modulated guitar stabs with melancholy bass and a dramatic-sounding kick drum, vocalist Jennifer O'Neill spits effecting lyrics through a thick veil of effects.  Reaching a sombre state of enlightenment as the chorus hits, emotive strings and trip-hoppy beats trigger some welcome 90s nostalgia. Providing some insight via their Facebook page, the band explain "this song highlights the ability of the human race to put things “out of sight, out of mind” whether it be emotions, physical appearances and attitudes or with the unsustainable and worrisome problems we have at the moment. We should try and look up sometimes because the disconnect between us and our surroundings is real. Love yourself and each other, but love your backyard too." -Holly Mullineaux
